Steven Zhang’s Homepage
Welcome to my personal website!
I’m Steven Zhang, a second-year master’s student in Information Networking at Carnegie Mellon University. My research interests are multimodal learning, large language models, and their applications in healthcare, with a particular focus on learning representations that generalize across clinical datasets.
At CMU, I worked with Prof. Chenyan Xiong on cross-national EHR representation learning and domain adaptation. My research explored contrastive learning, clinical code alignment, and task-specific data selection to transfer representations learned from Taiwan’s national health insurance data to U.S. clinical datasets.
I am currently working with Prof. Sumit Chopra at NYU Grossman School of Medicine on MRI reconstruction, implementing and evaluating reconstruction methods on the fastMRI brain dataset.
During my undergraduate years at New York University, I worked on automated radiology report generation from knee X-rays under the guidance of Prof. Sumit Chopra and Prof. Yiqiu Shen, combining vision-language models with physician-guided reporting approaches. I also developed clinical NLP methods for extracting pathology information from radiology reports to support medical education.
Feel free to explore my site to learn more about my work, projects, and research!
